HEC MiF admissions, for the MSc International Finance, suit recent graduates with a strong quantitative record who are aiming for capital markets or corporate finance. What is the HEC MSc International Finance and who is it for?

The MSc International Finance is a specialised pre-experience master on the Jouy-en-Josas campus of HEC Paris business school. It ranks seventh worldwide in the FT Masters in Finance (pre-experience) ranking for 2026 and first in the QS 2027 finance masters ranking.

The year starts with a London study trip in September, followed by nine months of coursework to April. You begin on one of two tracks: the Business Track if your degree is in business or management, or the Accelerated Track if you studied economics, engineering, mathematics or science. You then specialise in Capital Markets or Corporate Finance, a choice you make on your application and cannot change. A certificate in May, a research paper in June and at least four months of professional experience complete the degree.

The class is highly international: 90% of students were international in the 2025 graduation survey. Optional August preparation includes an online Python course and a data bootcamp.

What are the HEC MiF requirements?

  • A bachelor's and/or master's degree from an accredited institution. The programme targets students and recent graduates.
  • A GMAT, GMAT Focus, GRE or TAGE MAGE score, with no minimum.
  • An English test (TOEIC with all four parts, TOEFL, IELTS or Cambridge), again with no minimum, unless you are a native speaker or studied entirely in English.
  • A one-page CV, full transcripts and programme essays.
  • Two confidential references: one academic, the second academic or professional.

How do HEC MiF admissions work?

An admissibility jury reviews your file. If you pass, you take a 30-minute Zoom interview in English with programme directors and alumni, which may include technical questions. The application fee is €180. The HEC MiF deadlines for the September 2027 intake are below.

HEC MiF tuition and salary outcomes

HEC MiF tuition for the 2027 intake is listed at €48,485, plus €2,500 for students from outside the EU. Admitted students confirm their place with a €6,000 deposit, deducted from tuition. Budget roughly €1,500 a month for living costs, and expect fees to change.

On HEC MiF salary outcomes, the school reports an average starting package of €103,000 (2025 graduation survey) and an average of €169,000 three years after graduation (FT 2024 data). The FT 2024 data also shows 100% of graduates in employment.

How can you stand out?

  • Prove your quantitative ability. Strong grades in mathematics, statistics or finance matter as much as your test score.
  • Justify your specialisation. Your essays should show exactly why Capital Markets or Corporate Finance fits the role you want.
  • Prepare for technical questions. Revise valuation, accounting and market basics, and follow recent deals.
  • Show exposure to finance through internships, investment clubs or relevant courses.
  • Apply in Round 2 or 3 rather than waiting for Round 4, since visa and housing timelines get tight late in the cycle.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the HEC MiF and the HEC MiM?

The MiF is a specialist finance degree, with nine months of coursework and a binding choice of Capital Markets or Corporate Finance. The MiM is a two-year general management programme with an optional gap year and nine specialisations, one of them International Finance. If you are not yet sure about finance, read our guide to HEC MiM admissions.

What HEC MiF GMAT score do I need?

HEC sets no minimum, but it reports a median GMAT of 715 for the programme, so a competitive score strengthens your file considerably. The GRE and TAGE MAGE are accepted too. A strong quantitative section matters most.

Do I need work experience for HEC MiF admissions?

No. The MSc International Finance is designed for students and recent graduates, and HEC lists no work experience requirement. Finance internships still help, because they show the admissions jury that you understand the careers you are targeting and can handle a technical interview.
