LSE Business Analytics Master's: Admissions to the Closest Options

There is no LSE business analytics master's under that name: LSE does not run an MSc Business Analytics or a Master's in Analytics and Management (MAM). The closest equivalent is the MSc Operations Research and Analytics, a 12-month programme for graduates with a 2:1 and university-level maths, which received 322 applications for 37 places in 2025.

Does LSE offer an MSc Business Analytics or a MAM?

No. If you searched for an LSE MSc Business Analytics or an LSE MAM, you will not find either on LSE's programme list. Analytics at LSE is spread across departments rather than packaged as one business degree. Optimisation and machine learning are taught in the Department of Mathematics, while the LSE MSc Management of Information Systems and Digital Innovation (MISDI), in the Department of Management, focuses on how organisations adopt and manage technology.

That leaves two realistic routes to an LSE business analytics master's in all but name, depending on whether you want to build models or lead digital change.

The LSE business analytics master's closest match: Operations Research and Analytics

The LSE MSc Operations Research and Analytics (ORA) starts on 27 September 2027. Its three core courses are Optimisation Theory and Modelling, Stochastic Modelling and Simulation, and Algorithmic Techniques in Machine Learning. You then complete a project or dissertation and choose options worth one and a half units. All three core courses use programming, and a pre-sessional Python course helps you prepare.

Graduates have joined consultancies such as McKinsey, BCG and Deloitte, finance firms such as Citi, UBS and Jane Street, and public bodies such as Ofgem. Top sectors in the 2023/24 Graduate Outcomes survey included financial and professional services, digital technology and data, and consultancy.

LSE analytics master's requirements

  • Operations Research and Analytics: a 2:1 in a relevant discipline, with university courses in calculus, linear algebra and statistics. Relevant professional experience may also count.
  • MSc MISDI: a 2:1 in any discipline. GMAT or GRE is not required, but LSE says a strong result will benefit you. Work experience is not required.
  • English: LSE's Standard level, for example IELTS 7.0 with 6.5 in each component; our TOEFL and IELTS guide explains the tests.
  • Application: statement of academic purpose, two references, CV and transcripts. Applications for 2027/28 open in October 2026 on a rolling basis, the fee is £95, and you can choose up to two programmes.

The management angle: MSc MISDI

MISDI suits you if you want to lead technology projects rather than write the algorithms. Core courses cover innovation and information systems, organisational IT and the socioeconomics of digital innovation, and you finish with an 8,000-word dissertation. Electives have included human-AI interaction and digital marketing. According to HESA Graduate Outcomes data (2019/20 to 2023/24 surveys), the median salary 15 months after graduation was £40,000, with employers such as Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, Amazon and PwC.

LSE analytics master's fees

LSE analytics master's fees differ by programme. Operations Research and Analytics lists a Home fee of £30,400 for 2027/28, with a different Overseas rate, so check LSE's fee table. MISDI costs £41,900 for 2027/28 for all students. Fees change every year.

How to stand out

  • Show your maths on paper. List calculus, linear algebra and statistics courses with grades.
  • Prove you can code. Python projects or coursework strengthen an ORA application.
  • Name the problems you want to solve. Link them to specific courses in your statement.
  • Choose by skills, not labels. Pick ORA to build models and MISDI to manage digital change. If general management or finance appeals more, compare LSE MiM admissions and our guide to the London School of Economics.

Frequently asked questions

Is the LSE MSc Operations Research and Analytics a business analytics degree?

It is the closest LSE equivalent, but it is more mathematical than most business analytics master's. The core focuses on optimisation, simulation and machine learning, and you need university-level calculus, linear algebra and statistics. Graduates move into consulting, finance, technology and government roles where modelling and data skills are central.

Do I need a GMAT or GRE for an LSE analytics master's?

Generally not. The MSc Operations Research and Analytics page does not list a GMAT or GRE requirement, and the MSc MISDI does not require one, although a strong score can help. Your degree, maths grades and statement of academic purpose carry the most weight in both applications.
